Silver is generally harmful to the human body, and its hazards include jewelry dermatitis, local infections, and deformities.
- Jewelry dermatitis:
Some people wearing silver bracelets, rings, necklaces and other accessories can cause contact dermatitis on the wrist, neck, and fingers, resulting in skin itching, redness, peeling, and papules. In severe cases, it can even trigger asthma or systemic urticaria.
- Local infection:
When there is local damage to the body, infection may occur due to lax disinfection or improper post care, as well as damage to the skin caused by heavy metal silver friction, sagging, etc., leading to secondary infections.
- Causing deformities:
The most common type is finger or toe ring deformity. Some people, due to long-term wearing of silver jewelry and not even taking it off at night, can cause local blood supply to be insufficient, causing tissue proliferation or persistent infection in the lower part of the fingers or toes, ultimately leading to finger or toe deformity.
Silver is not a trace element in the body. Silver is a heavy metal that can cause protein denaturation, thus causing certain harm to the body. If symptoms such as discomfort appear, it is recommended to seek medical attention in a timely manner and receive systematic treatment under the guidance of a doctor
